Treating Rhythm Disorders

Woman patient learning about cardiac electrophysiology treatments provided at North Shore Physalem.massgeneralbrighamsicians Group

Our cardiac electrophysiologists specialize in treatment of abnormal heart rhythms including rapid and slow heart rates, palpitations (skipped or extra beats) and lightheadedness or blackout spells. Many times rhythm disorders can be treated with medication. When more advanced treatment is required, members of our team are specially trained in ablation therapy which can permanently cure some rapid rhythm conditions.

In addition, we also place and manage electronic pacemakers for slow heart rhythms, cardiac resynchronization therapy (CRT) pacemakers for heart failure and electronic implantable defibrillators for certain abnormal heart rhythms. After placing a device, we continually monitor patients to make sure each device is operating properly.

Pacemaker Clinic

For patients with a pacemaker or Implantable Cardiovert Defibrillator (ICD), we provide assessment and reprogramming of these devices as needed in our Pacemaker and ICD Clinic located at our 331 Highland Avenue office. Patients are also welcome at the Pacemaker Clinic located at Salem Hospital.
